For Goodness Rake
I don't know why I didn't upload this sooner, but this was a student film that I worked on in my advanced animation class. I ended up getting credit as the director for this short, but personally, all the credit goes to everyone who was part of this film. Director is only a title, but everyone worked really hard and they all deserve the credit. Enjoy!

What a Majestic Creature
Happy Thanksgiving everyone!! Instead of drawing a picture of a turkey, I decided to paint this picture I found on tumblr a while ago. I don't know why, but I love derpy animals. Moving on, I wanted to paint this picture as a "speed painting" study as well as adding my own interpretation to what I see to it. Enjoy and hope you guys aren't all in a food coma. :) By the way, I don't own the original photograph.

Bits
The project "Bits" was an assignment that let us create a final big art work that's composed of 6 smaller art pieces. We were told not to have a specific style, but just to have fun with it and explore what kind of finale we can get. We also had the freedom to pick any topic.
My topic was how culture has greatly influenced me because I grew up in America and suddenly move to Taiwan with my family when I was only 9 years old.
My topic was how culture has greatly influenced me because I grew up in America and suddenly move to Taiwan with my family when I was only 9 years old.
Here were my bits (I'll keep it short)
- Paper dragon body: I was born in the year of the dragon. 1988
- Cartoony birds: I was amused by how java finches were used to tell fortunes at temples.
- Scary mask and bloody hand on the right: My mom took me to a buddhist festival and I saw people beating themselves over with weapons. That was to signify that they had a spirit within them and it was giving them power. The sight of blood on other people scarred me as a child.
- Buddha: I'm not buddhist, but I've always thought the cartoony idols in Taiwan was cute. Also the chinese characters mean what was going through my head as I was writing them down.
- Food: Taiwan has lots of good food. Lots.
- Woven flags: I'm proud to say I'm from the United States as well as Taiwan. Both have greatly shaped me to who I am today.

City of the Beasts by Isabel Allende
This was the anamatic/animation planning I did for my current project that's based off of Isabel Allende's City of the Beast. Our class split into eight groups with different studios to base our animations or visual developments off of. Our group got Nickelodeon.
I wanted to show how my anamatic was translated into digital animation using Autodesk Maya.
Enjoy!

The Wishing Well
This is an animated shot I did for a previous project in our BFA class. We each got a country to research on and base our shot off of. I got Pakistan and in the end, came up with a shot that tells a story of a little beggar named Samera who is sick of her life and steals a piece of naan during the month of Ramadan. This is the shot when Samera escapes under a water pump to eat in private, but shortly before she eats it, she's confronted by an Angel.

In the Reign of Harad IV by Steven Millhauser
"When the King picked up the thimble, he discovered beneath it a meticulous reproduction of the northwest wind of his toy palace, with twenty-six rooms fully furnished, including a writing table with ostrich-claw legs and a gold birdcage containing a nightingale."

Climatic Scene
Our last project in our Conceptual Illustration class was to create a story with characters that defined our personalities. We also had to create an environment and actually create the set for our scene and in the end, had to have a render for our climatic scene. The set was all hand made and painted with metalic paint.
This scene takes place in the rubble of a building after an earthquake and the main character, Denver, is mourning for a friend that died trying to save him. This is also where he encounters his mentor, a blind tanuki. This piece was done digitally with textures that were randomly picked from google images. Enjoy!

The Chair
BFA's "The Chair". There were no instructions on what we were doing with it, except that it had to be 3-30 seconds long and non-live action things. We were only given a week and this is what I came up with. Since it got positive feedback from fellow classmates and professors, I decided to finish it. Enjoy!!
I also submitted this to the CSU Media Arts Festival. Always worth a shot. :)
